Fife Doors Open 2024 - 14th & 15th September
Guided tour of the graveyard at Christ Kirk on the Green
The Leslie Heritage Group participated in this year’s Doors Open Days, held annually to raise awareness and celebrate the value of cultural heritage across Scotland.
Doors Open, coordinated by the Scottish Civic Trust, is part of European Heritage Days and runs alongside Scottish Archaeology Month. It is delivered in collaboration with Fife Council to bringing people together, highlight the need for continuous protection of our shared built & cultural heritage, and to allow access to places and activities not usually open to the public.
Seventy people visited Leslie over the weekend and participated in our guided walk and photographic exhibition to celebrate the 12th century origins of our town. We also welcomed new members to our group.
We wish to thank all our members who acted as local volunteers and made this day such a success, and the Leslie Town Hall Project, with whom we partnered to host our exhibition.
Our thanks are extended to the following Fife Council Departments for their support –
Archaeology, Event Management, Transportation, Bereavement Services/Historic Graveyards, Cllr Jan Wincott and the Scottish Civic Trust.
